๐๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฎ ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐! For the second night in a row, a G5 (highest) geomagnetic storm has been forecasted by the Space Weather Prediction Centre (SWPC). This is extremely rare. โข ๐ช๐ต๐ฎ๐: lights of the north! โข ๐ช๐ต๐ฒ๐ป: when it's dark โข ๐ช๐ต๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฒ: directly overhead but look in all directions โข ๐ช๐ต๐ผ: me? you? I dunno โข ๐ช๐ต๐: magic The best place to go for these things is anywhere secluded and away from the light pollution created by cities or other infrastructure. Go out into the bush and hang out ๐ค Maybe find a lake or body of water that you can catch reflections from. Cloud cover is expected to be minimal tonight too! ๐ฃ๐ต๐ผ๐๐ผ๐ด๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ฝ๐ต๐ ๐๐ถ๐ฝ๐: You still have time to Google this, or watch some YouTube tutorials. Do itttt ๐ โข Use a tripod of some sort if you can. โข If you're just using a cell phone and don't have a tripod, a shoe/runner can work (have done this many times! Just put your cell phone into your shoe standing up in portrait mode, tie the laces up tight to make a snug fit). โข Try to use longer shutter modes, like "night mode" or similar. โข Use a countdown timer before it takes the picture โข If you're using a real camera, use manual mode and a shutter speed of 5 to 20 seconds. Experiment with ISO. The higher the ISO, the more light it'll see but the images show more grain. โข If you're using a real camera that is modern, it might have an app available that will allow you to use your phone to take pictures remotely, which reduces shake and blurry photos. Best of luck! Have fun. ๐ก๐ผ๐๐ฒ: I'll create a chatroom in my IG stories after this post is finished. Maybe people can share info or their photos later? Never made a chatroom but this seems like a good use for that. #Calgary #Edmonton #Alberta #Banff #Reddeer #Lethbridge #MedicineHat #yyc #yeg
